Connecticut Branding and New York Headshot Photographer Kate Wark Photography Now Offering Blogging & Copywriting Services for Creatives

If you’re following my photography pages or poking around my business website, you might know me best for my photography work. My photography business, which began humbly almost six years ago photographing primarily family friends, has evolved quite a bit over that time. While I still photograph families, I now specialize in personal branding and headshot sessions for realtors, creatives, and entrepreneurs. The reason that specialty feels so aligned to me as a photographer is due to my first career, and part-time day job – in PR and communications.

Communications Career Background

Yes, that’s right. For those of you who don’t know me as a Connecticut branding and New York headshot photographer, I have spent more than 20 years in the communications field, writing for clients and positioning them for favorable media exposure. This has included drafting by-lined articles on clients’ behalf, as well as penning blog posts, talking points for events, and social media content. I’ve even sat in on brainstorming sessions for the naming of new hotel brands.

How Copywriting for Creatives Began

When I joined Sabrina Gebhardt’s first mastermind for photographers in 2020, at the height of covid, I was on a four-day-a-week schedule in my day job and busier than ever in my photography business. Being part of an educational group of peers through Sabrina’s group was a first for me, and a really special experience. Not only did I learn a TON (and still do - I remain part of Sabrina’s programs to this day and will happily share more about them to anyone who asks!), but something of an unexpected bonus took place. When fellow photogs in the group had a question about writing - whether it be responses to a difficult client email, copy for their website’s “About” page, or how to craft a package, I found myself raising my hand to help. In short order, Sabrina herself hired me to write blogs for her website and, soon after that, I had my own roster of blogging clients. This arm of my business, Kate Wark Creative, specializes in copy for creatives.

Word of mouth had gotten me this far, but when I was asked this summer to be on Colie James’ Business First Creatives podcast to talk about the power of blogging – I thought it was time to widely share more about my services. Please give this podcast a follow and a listen if you are a business owner as you will learn and gather SO MUCH from Colie and these podcast episodes. And if you want to listen to the full podcast interview with me, you can listen HERE

How my Blogging Services Work

If you are a creative entrepreneur and know you need to be blogging (or maybe you don’t - but this is me telling you, you do!), please hear me out. You don’t need to hire someone like me to do it for you, but if writing and updating your website regularly is something you struggle with, you don’t have to do it alone.

Because, you’re doing enough. You’re doing SO much. Outsourcing blogging is one thing you can offload if you want to.

If you’re thinking that this sounds intriguing and you want to know more, let me share more about how I work with clients like you.

#1. We schedule a no-pressure Discovery Zoom where we talk about you and your business, and how blogging can help

#2. When you decide to move forward, I share a proposal with package information – and your package could include just blogs, a blogging + newsletter package, website copy, or social media captions

#3. When you select your package, I share with you a copywriting questionnaire, which asks for things like keywords, favorite phrases, your unique selling points as a professional creative, special offers, upcoming milestones, geographic location, product/service offerings, etc. This helps me get to know you, your business, and is a crucial first step in assuming your brand voice.

#4. I share a thought starters template for you to fill in, from which I pull information for your monthly content

#5. I draft your blogs and one round of review is included per draft. Each blog post also gets a complimentary social media post to accompany it so you have more done-for-you content than ever, and can begin sharing a consistent flow of content with your audience.

I am thrilled to share this new offering in my business. It feels truly full circle, as photography is visual positioning and copy is written positioning and this feels like two pieces of a puzzle coming together. But it’s all telling YOUR story in YOUR words or images. And that’s a powerful thing because there’s a lot of competition in every field, but only one YOU.
