Is a Branding Session Right for You?

Branding sessions are one of my favorite kinds of portrait sessions. As someone with a 20 year background in marketing and PR, I am passionate about the many ways you can market yourself.

Branding images showcase you as an individual, as a professional, and in a few settings. The images you get can be used in your LinkedIn profile, for sure, but there are enough (and there’s enough variety) for you to utilize these in your websites, social media feeds and marketing campaigns. For a small business owner or the person with a burgeoning side gig, this kind of branding session, and the images that stem from it, can set you apart from your competition and set you up for success.

So, how do you know if a branding session is right for you?

🔹If you need more than a basic headshot. Yes, a headshot is necessary and needed, but won’t get you far in terms of putting out content over time and showing up for your brand regularly.

🔹If you’re looking to populate social media channels or your website. We’re living in a visual world, and attention spans are SHORT. Eye-catching visuals are E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G, and our social media feeds and websites rely heavily on imagery being posted, updated and refreshed regularly to stay relevant and feed the Google SEO-monster.

🔹If you need imagery for your marketing materials. Certain professionals, like real estate agents,  utilize marketing collateral quite successfully to stay top of mind and share critical market information in their regions. Images of you in your element, at work or at play, are great for this purpose.

🔹If you have a new career, are launching a small business or are looking to freshen up your personal branding. Living through a pandemic has shifted the ways we work in significant ways. With the “Great Resignation”,  job changes happening at record levels, and more folks than ever nurturing side gigs or new businesses – a refresh of your personal branding is critical. You don’t want to be using your singular headshot from an old position to launch your new, fresh start. You want to represent yourself to your new colleagues or prospective clients and customers with your best foot forward, and in a way that’s reflective of who you are today. Personal branding can do just that.
